General Board Member

 

NATIONAL SERVICE

  • Bishop Earl J. Wright, Sr. serves on the General Board, the governing board of the Church of God in Christ, which he helped to create.

  • Bishop Wright serves as the Chairman of the Constitution Committee for the Church of God in Christ Worldwide.   

  • Bishop Wright is an Administrative Assistant to the Board of Bishops of the Church of God in Christ. 
     

JURISDICTIONAL SERVICE

  • Bishop Wright serves as Jurisdictional Bishop of 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of  Southwest Michigan – Church of God in  Christ since 1985.

  • Interim Bishop for the Great Lakes Jurisdiction of Michigan following the demise of General Board Member, Bishop C. L. Anderson, Jr.

 

PASTORAL

  • The pastor of Greater Miller Memorial Church of God in Christ located in Warren, Michigan since 1963

  • Pastor of Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ since 1989

  • Founding and supporting pastor of Miller Memorial Church of God in Christ #2 in Haiti

 

CIVIC

  • Mayor’s Task Force – Special Appointment – 1995, 1996

  • Appointed by former Mayor, Dennis Archer, to a special task force to be on a team of liaison between the church and community

  • Bishop Wright is directly involved in helping to make decisions concerning Federal Funds given to the Empowerment Zone  Project

  • Prayer Leader for the Detroit National Day of Prayer

 

ACCOLADES

  • Bishop Wright was featured on the cover of the fall issue of the Gospel Connection Magazine in 2004

  • In 1992, Bishop Wright was acknowledged for his ministries, church and community leadership roles in  the international publication Upscale Magazine as 1 of 50 Most Influential Leaders in the United States.

  • The Christian Women Concerned Organization of Detroit selected Bishop Wright as the 1996 Church of God in Christ Pastor in the Detroit and Michigan area.

  • He was selected by this organization as “COGIC Pastor of the Year”

  • Listed in Who’s Who in America, 1994, 1995, 1996

 

FAMILY

Married to Dr. (Evangelist) Robin L. Wright, Supervisor of Japan Jurisdiction-C.O.G.I.C.; evangelist, writer, and administrative help in the local churches. Father of Earl, Jr. (Elaine), Michael (Robin), Marvalyn, Ben and Jonathan
